An Acadiana native, Dr. M. Babette Fontenot graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1989 and earned her Ph.D in 1997 from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. A prolific veterinary researcher with over 50 scientific publications and book chapters in the areas of animal health and behavior, Dr. Fontenot spent many years practicing veterinary medicine and teaching at universities around the country.
Over the years, she has also donated her time and expertise caring for animals at zoos and sanctuaries. In 2014, she welcomed the opportunity to purchase the hospital where she got her start as a veterinary student - the Bertrand Drive Animal Hospital. Dr. Fontenot is excited to return to her roots and bring her extensive veterinary experience back home to Acadiana.
