The goal of the bank is to establish, maintain and protect a freshwater marsh, bottomland hardwood and baldcypress-tupelo swamp wetland communities as a species diverse, sustainable ecosystems by restoring unique functions, values, and services. Work required to accomplish these goals include the restoration of approximately 26.6 acres of bottomland hardwoods, 24.2 acres of swamp and 200.2 acres of fresh marsh through surface hydrology restoration and vegetation restoration. These actions increase the habitat value for those fishery and wildlife resources utilizing these habitats. The restoration and protection associated with this project will further enhance the longevity of this landmass.
