Chalyn Fayard Updated:11/2022

When not rescuing strays, Dr. Fayard spent her childhood and adolescence immersed in James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small, and in local horse culture, including competitive showing in both jumping and combined training. She briefly left Louisiana to attend Centre College in Kentucky (the other horse country), earning degrees in Psychology and Dramatic Arts, before returning home to work at the Baton Rouge Zoo and, later, as a veterinary assistant at a private practice with a heavy emphasis on the care of exotics.

Dr. Fayard then left Louisiana again, this time for Scotland, where she earned her doctorate at the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine, alma mater of the same James Herriot that she loved so much as a child. Upon her return, Dr. Fayard worked as an associate veterinarian at a clinic in Covington for nine years. During that time, she moved to Folsom, set herself up a little homestead with chickens, goats, and horses, and pursued training and certifications in veterinary acupuncture and chiropractic care.

Now, after a lifetime nurturing and healing animals (and their owners), Dr. Chalyn is excited to open her own veterinary clinic in her adopted hometown. Her varied experiences and diverse education allow Dr. Chalyn to bring a high level of integrative practice to Folsom, with the advantages of both traditional medicine and complementary therapies.
